Naomi is a writer and director who is passionate about bringing new perspectives to the screen.

Naomi won The Spectrum Films Award for Best Direction in an Australian Short film at Flickerfest 2021 for her AFTRS graduating film This River currently screening on ABC iview. Naomi was also nominated for Best Direction in a Student Film by the Australian Directors Guild (ADG) for this film. Naomi was Screen NSW directing attachment on the Stan/Sundance series Totally Completely Fine with Lucy Gaffy as set up director. Naomi is currently in development for her feature film Rivers. Naomi most recently directed The Sax written by Mel Jacob for AFTRS with Denis Curnow producing.

Originally from the Northern Rivers of NSW Naomi pursued her passion for storytelling undertaking a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Theatre Performance at the University of Wollongong as well as later completing a Bachelor of Laws at the University of New South Wales. On graduating Naomi worked as an actor in theatre touring across Australia as well as acting and later producing fringe theatre in Sydney. Complementing her acting work Naomi has taught drama to young people in Sydney and the United Kingdom as well as directing numerous student productions in both theatre and film. This experience has given Naomi a strong ability in directing young talent as well as supporting non-actors to thrive.

Transitioning into filmmaking Naomi wrote, directed and produced her first two short filmsa short documentary Dr. Salt and a short drama Gone Out whilst studying at Metro Screen in Sydney. Naomi then wrote, directed and produced the short drama Be Famous. These films have played at numerous festivals in Australia and internationally. At AFTRS Naomi directed a short documentary Gemma and a short drama Laps and most recently wrote, directed and produced This River receiving an ADG nomination. Naomi is currently co-writing and directing a feature documentary Alone with 100 Percent Films which has received development funding from Screen Australia.

As a writer Naomi wrote two feature screenplays as part of the Professional Program in Screenwriting at the University of California winning the Joie de Vivre Screenwriting Award for her screenplay Love is at the Centre of Things. Naomi is also working on a children’s series Eddie’s Adventures and numerous other works.

Naomi is looking forward to developing her skills across television, film and digital content and bringing a kind, innovative and inclusive approach to her work.
